I used to think mainland banks were really stupid

Now I find European banks are even more stupid
Opening an account requires a reservation a week in advance
A cash deposit of over 1,000 euros per month easily triggers anti-money laundering reviews
Single transactions over 1,000 euros, or daily totals over 5,000 euros, cannot be credited instantly; you have to wait one or two business days, and holidays will delay further
The daily transfer limit is 30,000 euros and cannot be increased
If you really want to transfer more than 30,000 euros at once, you can only go offline to get a check (something from the last century?) or use OMF, with fees as high as 0.4%-0.5%
They don’t stay open on weekends and holidays; on weekdays, they close promptly at 2 pm, and if you go at 1 pm, they tell you to come back tomorrow
No online customer service, only phone and email; the phone will tell you they received your inquiry and reply after a few days, and emails are similar, replying once or twice a day. It’s normal for a full conversation to take a week.
