Jury finds Live Nation monopolized concert ticketing, harmed competition

A federal jury has found Live Nation and its subsidiary Ticketmaster guilty of monopolizing the concert ticketing market, causing harm to competition and overcharging consumers. The lawsuit, brought by numerous states and Washington, D.C., alleged that Live Nation leveraged its control over various aspects of live entertainment, including ticketing, promotion, and venue operations, to suppress competition and inflate ticket prices. The jury’s findings indicate that Live Nation’s practices violated multiple state antitrust laws, resulting in approximately $1.72 per ticket in overcharges for consumers in affected jurisdictions.
