The Leizhou Branch of the Qiandongnan Prefecture Ecological Environment Bureau reported on April 25 that recently, concerns have been raised about the Rhino Slope pig farm in Gaoxi Village, Bazhai Township, Leiping County, due to the disorderly discharge of fecal waste and pollution of the surrounding environment. After the incident, Leiping County quickly organized multiple departments and the Bazhai Township government to set up a joint working group to conduct on-site investigation, verification, and disposal. It was found that the overflow of fecal waste from the pig farm was caused by the inadequate sealing of the dry manure shed, insufficient seepage prevention at the wastewater pond, and the collapse of the manure collection tank.

At present, the facilities have been sealed and reinforced, a temporary collection pond has been built, and the fecal waste in the manure collection tank has been promptly transferred to manure-holding ponds in other townships for storage. Previously, online rumors that “after rectification, a pig farm in Leiping, Guizhou, reappeared with illegal discharge of sewage water” were inconsistent with the facts. In reality, according to the requirements of the “Technical Specification for Returning Livestock and Poultry Manure to the Field,” based on public demand, a small amount of low-concentration fecal waste was transported to grassland planting bases for irrigation and fertilization.

Regarding the company’s unlawful conduct, Leiping County has set up a special case team and has filed a case for investigation, and is currently carrying out evidence collection and investigation in accordance with the law. (Interface News)
