South Africa Drafts Broad Crypto Rules on Private Keys and Reporting

South Africa drafted a proposal to tighten crypto oversight, including powers for authorities to demand private keys used to access crypto assets. The proposal would make refusal a criminal offense and would require people holding cryptocurrencies above a threshold to report those holdings within 30 days. It would also require large-value transactions to go through licensed platforms.
