Trump: Anthropic 'Developing Well', Open to Restoring Cooperation
On April 21, U.S. President Trump stated in an interview with CNBC on Tuesday that his administration believes Anthropic is ‘developing well’ and he is open to considering an agreement that would allow the company to resume its contractual cooperation with Defense Department officials. In February, Trump directed federal agencies to exclude Anthropic from procurement contracts. Last week, Anthropic’s CEO met with White House officials in an attempt to repair the relationship between the two parties. The White House described the meeting as productive and constructive. Trump stated on Tuesday, ‘They came to the White House a few days ago, and we had a very in-depth conversation with them. I think they are maturing gradually. They are very smart, and I believe they can play an important role. I like smart people.’
