Iran: First Round of Talks Showed Goodwill, But US Response is Tepid

On April 22, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei stated that Iran has not yet decided whether to participate in a new round of talks with the United States. In a media interview, Baghaei said that Iran participated in the first round of talks with the US in good faith and with a serious attitude, but the US showed a cold response and lacked sincerity, with an inconsistent stance. He indicated that Iran has made it clear that if attending talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, aligns with national interests, it will participate, but no decision has been made yet. Baghaei also stated that the US blockade of Iranian ports is an act of aggression, and the shooting and seizure of Iranian merchant ships are not behaviors expected from a country genuinely committed to a serious diplomatic process.
