DOJ drops Powell probe, easing Kevin Warsh's path to lead the Fed

The U.S. Department of Justice dropped its criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, easing Kevin Warsh’s path to Senate confirmation as incoming Fed chair. During his nomination hearing a few days earlier, Warsh said digital assets were already part of the fabric of the U.S. financial services industry. Sen. Thom Tillis had said he would not back Warsh until the probe ended.
