Medvedev: The European Union is considering forming a full military force
In response to U.S. President Trump’s complaints that NATO allies are not helping to combat Iran, and his subsequent consideration of withdrawing the United States from NATO, on April 3rd local time, Russian Federation Security Council Deputy Chairman Medvedev stated that he believes Trump and the United States will never withdraw from NATO—“there’s no reason, and Congress will not allow it.” Medvedev said that what is truly worth warning about is that internal conflicts within NATO are intensifying due to the Iran conflict, and European politicians are seriously considering establishing a complete military force within the European Union. He stated that the EU is no longer just an economic alliance; it could soon transform into a military alliance that is extremely hostile to Russia, “even worse than NATO in some aspects.” Medvedev said that Russia should abandon its previous tolerant attitude toward neighboring countries joining the EU.
