🔥 Trump hints at willingness to change the investigation path for Powell, breaking the deadlock in Fed nomination
On April 24, Trump expressed openness to an "alternative approach" to the investigation of Federal Reserve Chair Powell, which was interpreted by the outside world as a move to resolve the nomination stalemate and pave the way for Kevin Warsh to lead the Fed. Trump stated that an external agency from the Department of Justice could be involved in the investigation. Warsh's nomination has been blocked due to the Department of Justice's criminal investigation into Powell, with key senator Thom Tillis insisting that the investigation must not stop, which obstructs the confirmation. During the hearing, Warsh avoided issues related to interest rates and politics, emphasizing the independence of the Fed. Powell said he would remain a board member until the investigation concludes. If Warsh is not confirmed by mid-May, he will serve as acting chair.
