I just saw the news that Blockstream has updated Blockstream Green to version 5.2.0 with a pretty interesting feature — they have connected the Lightning Network with the Liquid Network. The cool part is they use atomic swaps to convert between Lightning payments and LBTC on Liquid, all protected by their Jade hardware wallet.

What’s notable is that Blockstream Jade becomes the first hardware wallet on the market capable of directly interacting with the Lightning Network. Previously, most cold storage devices only supported regular on-chain transactions, so a hardware wallet capable of handling Lightning payments is a significant step forward.

Now, users can send and receive Lightning payments instantly while keeping their assets in cold storage, combining the security of a hardware wallet with the transaction speed of Lightning. This is a pretty smart way to address secure storage issues when using fast payments. If this trend continues to develop, we may see more hardware wallets adding Lightning support in the future.
