Peru's President Appoints New Defense Minister

On April 22 local time, Peruvian President José Balcázar appointed Amadeo Flores Cárdenas as the new Minister of Defense. Earlier that same day, because the Peruvian government refused to purchase American military aircraft, the Peruvian Defense Minister Carlos Díaz and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hugo de Césa?era, announced their resignations one after another.
