The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the operation of the agriculture and rural economy in the first quarter of 2026. Lu Xiutao, head of the Planting Industry Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, stated that it is currently the “Grain Rain” season, and wheat and rapeseed have entered the critical period for yield formation. Nationwide, spring plowing and sowing are fully underway, and spring agricultural production is progressing smoothly. From the perspective of spring plowing progress, spring sowing grain area accounts for more than half of the annual grain area, and the yield accounts for over 60%. Currently, spring sowing is proceeding normally, and the intention area is generally stable. At present, it is the peak period for spring fertilization. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, together with relevant departments, is coordinating efforts to ensure fertilizer supply and stabilize prices. Spring fertilization supplies are sufficient, delivered to grassroots outlets in a timely manner, with prices slightly higher year-on-year. Domestic fertilizer prices are much lower than international prices. According to the latest agricultural situation dispatch from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, spring sowing progress has exceeded 20%, slightly faster than the same period last year, with early rice planting over 80%, spring corn sowing over 10%, and spring soybean planting underway one after another.
