BlockBeats News. April 24 — Japan’s Bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet announced the issuance of 8 billion yen (approximately $50 million) in zero-coupon common bonds to be used for future purchases of Bitcoin. This issuance has been fully subscribed by the Cayman Islands investment company EVO Fund, which is also Metaplanet’s 20th bond issuance.

As the largest digital asset holding company in Japan, Metaplanet has continued to increase its Bitcoin holdings since April 2024. In the first quarter of this year, the company bought a total of 5,075 BTC; as of March 31, its total holdings reached 40,177 BTC, making it the world’s third-largest Bitcoin treasury company. This debt issuance came after the company reported a net loss of $619 million for fiscal year 2025 (mainly due to unrealized valuation losses on its Bitcoin holdings). Bitcoin is currently trading at approximately $77,700, up 10% over the past month.
