The Ministry of Foreign Affairs refutes the false accusations by the U.S. side regarding China's "detention" of Panamanian-flagged ships.

In response to the recent accusations by the U.S. Secretary of State that China has “harassed” and “detained” Panamanian-flagged vessels, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press conference on April 3 that the U.S. side’s remarks are completely baseless—wholly made up and twisting the facts. The U.S. keeps prattling on and making unnecessary fuss, which can only expose its attempt to seize control of the canal. Who exactly is openly undermining the neutrality of the Panama Canal through unilateral bullying and intimidation, and disrupting the stability of the global supply chain? Justice is in the hearts of the people. China’s position on the relevant port issues in Panama is clear, and China will firmly safeguard its lawful rights and interests.( Xinhua News Agency)
