South Korean institute urges Civil Code change to recognize crypto as property

South Korea’s Judicial Policy Research Institute proposed in February that the Civil Code be amended to recognize cryptocurrency as property. The institute said current law does not treat virtual assets as property, which can make it harder to protect holders. The institute said wider crypto use, more related transactions, and more legal disputes support new legislation.
