I have recently observed an interesting analysis discussing the role of XRP in international payments. According to Canaccord Capital, it is becoming a key bridge currency for cross-border transactions.
Honestly, it is much more efficient than SWIFT. In traditional banking systems, international money transfers take days and large amounts of capital are locked in pre-funded accounts in various countries. XRP is completely changing this model. Through Ripple’s network, institutions can convert fiat to XRP in just a few seconds, cross borders, and then convert to the destination currency. This truly frees up capital and accelerates the settlement process.
On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) is the technology behind it that enables near-instant settlement. Instead of the long delays of traditional correspondent banking systems, now value transfers happen really quickly. I see how this is facilitating global payment flows.
Institutional adoption is already increasing. Major players like SBI Remit, MoneyGram, Santander, and Tranglo are already testing or integrating Ripple’s solutions. This shows that real trust is building in blockchain-based settlement infrastructure.
Not only at the institutional level, but XRP is gaining momentum at the retail level too. Platforms like BitPay are making it more accessible. And XRP Ledger (XRPL) is seeing new use cases in NFT projects and asset tokenization.
Ripple’s broader vision is to position XRP as a real alternative to SWIFT. It’s not just a cryptocurrency; it’s a practical upgrade to the decades-old infrastructure of global banking communication. XRP’s efficient design and stable supply model set it apart from inflationary or energy-intensive cryptos.
Currently, XRP is valued at $1.43 with a market cap of $88.11 billion. It appears quite stable. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has suggested that XRP could ultimately become the second-largest cryptocurrency based on market valuation, potentially surpassing Ethereum if adoption continues. While still speculative, it shows how the global payment blockchain-based infrastructure is evolving.
I am closely following this space, and if you want more details, you can check XRP and related assets on Gate.
