Nike to Cut Approximately 1,400 Jobs in Latest Layoff Round

On April 24, Fox News reported that Nike announced on Thursday that approximately 1,400 people from its global operations team will be laid off. In a memo to employees, Chief Operating Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy stated that the layoffs will primarily impact Nike’s technology department, affecting regions including North America, Asia, and Europe, and representing less than 2% of the company’s global workforce. Alagirisamy wrote, “This is not a new direction, but rather the next phase of work that is currently underway.” This announcement comes as Nike is restructuring its business through a series of layoffs.
