Elon Musk agrees to make ASTEROID the mascot of SpaceX, with a meme coin of the same name briefly surpassing a market value of $160 million.

ChainCatcher message: In a discussion about questions posed by the late girl Liv Perrotto, she previously asked whether her designed “ASTEROID” could be used as a SpaceX mascot. In response, Musk replied, “Ok.”

Spurred by this message, the Ethereum on-chain meme coin ASTEROID (launched as early as September 2024) briefly saw its market cap break past $160 million; it is now at $116 million. Its 24-hour gain is over 500%, and its 24-hour trading volume exceeds $77 million.

It is reported that before Liv Perrotto, a 15-year-old girl, died of cancer, her greatest wish was to meet Musk, and she wrote down a list of questions she wanted to ask. She had previously helped design a zero-gravity instruction toy called “Asteroid”—a Shiba Inu-shaped figure. Her mother later publicly wrote to Musk, hoping he would consider naming Asteroid as SpaceX’s official mascot in accordance with Liv Perrotto’s final wishes. Musk replied, “I’ll get back to you very soon.”
