A spokesperson for the International Maritime Organization stated on the 20th that the situation in the waters near the Strait of Hormuz remains turbulent and unpredictable. Ships nearby should maintain the “highest level of alert” and avoid risky actions without security assurances. According to the official website of the International Maritime Organization, as of the 19th, 24 piracy incidents have been confirmed in the relevant waters, resulting in 10 sailors’ deaths.
