According to monitoring by Dongcha Beating, GPT-5.5 has appeared in the model selector dropdown list of OpenAI Codex, located at the top of the list. As of now, OpenAI has not released any official announcements or documentation regarding GPT-5.5. Previously, multiple media outlets reported that the next-generation cutting-edge model, internally codenamed ‘Spud,’ completed its pre-training by the end of March, and there is widespread speculation that its official name will be GPT-5.5 or GPT-6, expected to be released in the second quarter.
