CryptoWorld News reports that on April 23, the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that Sergeant Major Gannon Ken VanDijk of the U.S. Army Special Forces, involved in forcibly controlling and transferring Venezuelan President Maduro, has been indicted for allegedly profiting over $400k through betting using this information.

In the weeks before January 3, VanDijk used sensitive confidential information to place bets on the prediction market Polymarket that the U.S. military would enter Venezuela and that Maduro would be ousted.
On January 3, he also uploaded photos containing sensitive information to his online account.
A grand jury at the Manhattan Federal Court has charged the 38-year-old VanDijk with crimes including illegal use of confidential government information for personal gain, theft of non-public government information, commodities fraud, telecommunications fraud, and illegal currency transactions.
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has also filed a civil lawsuit against VanDijk.
