DOJ Arrests Soldier Over Polymarket Bets on Maduro Capture

The DOJ arrested an active-duty U.S. Army soldier accused of using confidential information to place 13 Polymarket bets ahead of Nicolas Maduro’s capture. Prosecutors said Gannon Ken Van Dyke spent over $33,000 on Venezuela and Maduro-related markets. Prosecutors said Van Dyke made about $409,881 and later asked Polymarket to delete his account. Van Dyke faces Commodity Exchange Act, wire fraud, and unlawful monetary transaction charges, and the CFTC filed a parallel civil complaint.
