Japan earthquake magnitude revised to 7.7; tsunami warning has been lifted

On the afternoon of the 20th, a earthquake occurred in the northeastern sea area of Japan. After detailed analysis of the data, the Japan Meteorological Agency upgraded the earthquake magnitude from 7.5 to 7.7 and changed the epicenter depth from 10 kilometers to 19 kilometers. According to observations by the Meteorological Agency, the earthquake temporarily triggered a tsunami about 80 centimeters high. Around 8 p.m. that evening, the Meteorological Agency downgraded the tsunami warning for the relevant areas to a “Tsunami Advisory” alert, and by late at night, all tsunami-related warnings had been lifted.
