Iranian media: Launching air defense systems aims to counter small drones

Gold Finance reports that on April 24, as reported by Iran’s Fars News Agency in its report dated April 23, in response to the appearance of small drones in multiple locations within the country, Iran launched its air defense system that evening. The report says that the sounds of the air defense system being activated in Tehran, Iran’s capital, and several other cities were because small drones were detected, including Israel’s “Orbiter”-type reconnaissance drone. Iranian media reported that earlier that evening, explosions were heard over Tehran, the air defense system was activated, and fire was opened at “enemy targets.” Several Israeli media outlets subsequently cited their respective sources to report that Israel did not carry out an air strike against Iran.
