Gold Financial reports that on April 24th, according to CNN citing multiple sources familiar with the matter, U.S. military officials are developing a new plan to target Iran’s military capabilities in the Strait of Hormuz amid the current breakdown of the ceasefire agreement with Iran.
Sources say that among several target options being considered, there is a particular focus on a “dynamic strike” against Iran’s capabilities around the Strait of Hormuz, the southern Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman, potentially targeting small fast attack boats, mine-laying ships, and other asymmetric assets.
These assets have helped Iran effectively blockade the Strait of Hormuz.
Although the U.S. military has conducted strikes against the Iranian navy, most of the major targets in the first month of bombing were far from the strait.
The new plan calls for more concentrated bombing operations around strategic waterways.
