Iran's Foreign Ministry: Negotiation Focus Shifted from Nuclear Issues to Complete Ceasefire

On April 24, in response to Speaker Qalibaf’s appointment as the head of the Iranian delegation for negotiations in Islamabad, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson made an official statement on the 23rd. The spokesperson emphasized that the nature of recent negotiations has fundamentally changed, with the core issue no longer being nuclear matters, but rather the complete end of war. The spokesperson noted that Qalibaf has a practical background from the Iran-Iraq War and has a rich resume in various fields. As the Speaker, he can effectively coordinate domestic forces and is trusted by various political factions. Partnering with Araghchi, who also has a background in warfare, the Iranian side believes this is an efficient diplomatic combination capable of overseeing the overall situation. The spokesperson clearly pointed out that nuclear issues are no longer the main focus, and the current negotiation priority is a complete ceasefire, with the primary task being to safeguard the nation’s core interests. Shortly before this statement was issued, Israeli sources reported that Qalibaf had resigned from the Iranian negotiation team due to the involvement of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
