Golden Finance reports that on April 24th, according to The Washington Post, U.S. government officials stated on Thursday that the United States intends to invite Putin to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit scheduled to be held in December at Trump Doral Golf Resort in Miami, though the invitation has not yet been sent. The U.S. State Department said in a statement that Trump “has made it clear that the United States is focused on hosting a successful and productive summit, and welcomes Russia’s participation in all G20 meetings.” A senior U.S. government official told the media, “No formal invitation has been issued yet, but Russia is a G20 member and will be invited to attend the ministerial meetings and the leaders’ summit.” Since 2019, Russia has not sent representatives to attend in person, initially due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and later because of the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Putin. Russian officials earlier on Thursday stated that Putin has received an invitation to attend the Miami summit, but it is unclear whether he will attend.
