Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) exports hit a new high, while imports remain low
In March 2026, China’s net exports of PVC powder reached 665.6k tons, an increase of 51.62% month-on-month, with a significant rise in net exports, setting a new record high. The continued increase in net exports is still mainly due to a substantial rise in export volume, which in turn is driven by three main factors: first, the domestic announcement that there will be no more export tax rebates starting April 1, leading domestic companies to compete fiercely for exports; second, after the US-Iran war, international PVC prices surged sharply, while domestic PVC prices increased less compared to foreign PVC prices, giving domestic PVC exports a certain price advantage; third, the supply and demand imbalance in the domestic PVC industry has not changed, and the country needs to use exports to alleviate domestic supply pressure. Overall, in March 2026, China’s net PVC exports increased significantly month-on-month, reaching a new historical high. (Jinlianchuang)
