Wu said that CoW DAO has proposed a governance draft, intending to establish a discretionary subsidy program to support users affected by the cow.fi domain hijacking incident on April 14, 2026; this incident was exploited by social engineering attacks on the domain registrar Gandi and DNS service AWS Route 53, with attackers gaining control of the domain within approximately 4.5 hours and inducing users to sign malicious transactions through phishing websites, resulting in approximately 1.2 million USDC in losses. The proposal plans to use a legal reserve fund to make a one-time payment, providing subsidies up to 100% of the loss amount for eligible users based on the highest loss at the time of the incident.
