Recently scrolling through Twitter, I saw many people receiving invitations to attend events in Hong Kong.
The gilded fonts glow on the screen, with rows of replies underneath saying "See you in Hong Kong."
Hong Kong, these three words are excited, respectable, and carry a sense of being chosen with happiness.
But after turning off Twitter? Opening a ticket booking app, checking hotel prices, and then if it's your first time going, or it's been a long time since you last visited, you might feel a faint, vague unease.
That city has been seen too many times in images—neon lights, double-decker buses, Victoria Harbour skyline—familiar like scenes from old movies.
But when you actually step into it, you find yourself unsure of where to start walking.
