The Democratic Republic of the Congo announces the end of the monkeypox outbreak

The government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced on the 2nd that the country’s monkeypox outbreak has ended and no longer constitutes a public health emergency within the country. Congolese Health Minister Kamba stated in Kinshasa that the outbreak was brought under control thanks to previous experience in responding to Ebola and other epidemics, as well as a more unified prevention and control coordination mechanism. He emphasized that although the outbreak has ended, the virus still exists, and monitoring and prevention efforts will continue in the future to prevent a recurrence of the epidemic.
