Shipping in the Strait of Hormuz Stalled Amid Ongoing U.S. Sanctions

As of April 23, traffic in the Strait of Hormuz remains largely stagnant, with only occasional passage of vessels associated with Iran. According to ship tracking data, by Thursday morning local time, only one large cargo ship linked to Iran was observed departing from the Persian Gulf. On Wednesday, the security situation in the strait further deteriorated when Iranian warships fired on commercial vessels, while the U.S. intercepted two tankers coming from Tehran. (Jinshi)
