US Military Runs Bitcoin Node for Cybersecurity Tests, Admiral Tells Congress

Admiral Samuel Paparo said the U.S. military is running a Bitcoin node as part of cybersecurity and network defense testing. Paparo told a House Armed Services Committee hearing that the military is using Bitcoin to monitor the network and test how its protocol design could help secure and protect networks. Paparo framed Bitcoin as a computer science tool rather than a stockpiling asset and pointed to the GENIUS Act while backing dollar dominance.
