According to Bingjie News, Hungary’s local oil and natural gas company said on the 23rd local time that after a shutdown of nearly three months, Hungary has resumed receiving crude oil via the “Friendship” oil pipeline. The “Friendship” oil pipeline is a large pipeline network system through which Russia delivers crude oil to Central and Eastern Europe. Since January 27 this year, Russian oil transported via the Ukrainian section of this pipeline to Europe has been suspended. The Ukrainian side says the pipeline was damaged in attacks by the Russian side, but Hungary and Slovakia do not accept Ukraine’s claim. The Hungarian government accuses Ukraine of deliberately creating an “oil blockade” to obstruct the supply of Russian crude oil. In March, at an EU summit, Hungary blocked the EU from providing Ukraine with 90 billion euros in assistance loans on the grounds that Ukraine had stopped transporting Russian oil via the “Friendship” pipeline.
