U.S. Jobless Claims Reach 214,000, Above 211,000 Forecast

U.S. initial jobless claims for last week came in at 214,000, above the 211,000 forecast. Weekly jobless claims are a labor-market indicator the Federal Reserve uses in interest rate decisions. A higher-than-expected reading can signal more layoffs and a cooling labor market.
