Lately I've been looking at cross-chain bridges again, and the more I look, the more I feel that "waiting for confirmation" isn't procrastination, it's a lifeline... On the other side of the bridge, there's a bunch of multi-signature setups and oracles, sounding fancy, but basically it's about "who makes the decision" and "who reports the data." If either of these steps encounters a problem, assets could just drift away.
L2s are always arguing about TPS, fees, and ecosystem subsidies. I also enjoy the excitement, but if I really have to cross over, I'd rather go slower, wait for a few more confirmations, and also check if the multi-signature setup is too centralized or if the oracle is a single point of failure. Anyway, I'm a coward.
What I fear missing the most isn't actually the opportunity, but the regret of "I could have waited" after the bridge has an issue.
