A reporter asked: China has just announced Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. Can the spokesperson share China’s expectations for this visit? Guo Jiakun said that, at present, the acceleration of century-long changes is unfolding, bringing more risks and challenges to regional countries. Cambodia is stepping up the implementation of the “Five-Point Strategy,” while new governments in Thailand and Myanmar have just been formed, and all three countries are at critical stages of development. China expects that, through this visit, it will help advance the implementation of high-level consensus, deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation, consolidate the “ironclad friendship” between China and Cambodia, enrich the meaning of “a close-knit family between China and Thailand,” and carry forward the “brotherly friendship” of China and Myanmar, bringing more benefits to the people of their respective countries and making greater contributions to peace, stability, and development and prosperity in the region.
