The State Administration for Market Regulation will carry out special law enforcement actions on intellectual property rights in emerging fields and e-commerce sectors.
Mars Finance News: On April 23, it was learned from the press conference held today by the State Council Information Office that the State Administration for Market Regulation will organize special law enforcement actions targeting intellectual property rights in emerging fields and e-commerce. The focus will be on cracking down precisely on trademark infringement, patent counterfeiting, and misuse of geographical indications in areas such as online sales, live streaming commerce, and social e-commerce. In 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation will promote 81 major e-commerce platforms to reach the “Self-Discipline Convention on Improving Intellectual Property Protection in E-commerce Platforms,” and this year will conduct a review of the implementation of the convention, promoting the platforms’ self-regulatory commitments to be effective, and encouraging industry self-management and restraint. In response to the strongly reflected issue of “ghost stores,” that is, businesses with false address information, and the stubborn problems of “being unable to find people,” “unable to locate goods,” and “unable to verify transactions” during law enforcement, efforts will be made to urge e-commerce platforms to fulfill their main responsibilities and plug regulatory loopholes from the source. The State Administration for Market Regulation will intensify law enforcement efforts in emerging fields of intellectual property rights. Emphasizing new areas and new business models such as new-generation information technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, new energy, and green environmental protection, it will strengthen proactive law enforcement and forward-looking protection, and severely crack down on malicious trademark registration and trademark infringement violations.
