A financial officer in South Korea was sentenced to three years in prison for embezzling 570 million won of public funds to invest in cryptocurrency assets.

April 23 News, a South Korean company finance employee in his 20s was sentenced to three years in prison by the Busan District Court for embezzling company funds to invest in cryptocurrencies.
The court found that between 2021 and 2025, he transferred company funds to his personal account approximately 680 times, embezzling about 570 million won in total, and used the related funds for trading cryptocurrencies, overseas travel, and living expenses; he also forged a company deposit trust balance certificate to conceal the crime.
