American Water and Essential Utilities Receive Kentucky Public Service Commission Approval for Proposed Merger
American Water and Essential Utilities announced that the Kentucky Public Service Commission has approved their proposed merger, marking the first regulatory approval for the transaction. The merger, announced October 27, 2025, will create a combined company serving over 4.7 million water and wastewater customer connections and more than 740,000 gas customer connections. The all-stock transaction is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2027, subject to further regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
