Lufthansa Airlines announces major flight reductions

Affected by a sharp surge in aviation fuel prices, Germany’s aviation industry has faced intensified pressure. Lufthansa announced recently that since the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran conflict, aviation fuel prices have risen markedly, significantly increasing companies’ operating costs. The airline will cancel some routes that are not profitable, helping optimize the overall route network. By the end of October this year, the company plans to cancel about 20,000 short-haul flights, and it will close its regional subsidiary “InterCity Airlines” in advance to cope with the business pressures brought about by rising costs.
