Ander Philip elected as the new Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

The Inter-Parliamentary Union announced on the 20th that Anda Filip was elected the organization’s new Secretary General at the 152nd IPU Assembly held in Istanbul, Turkey, from the 15th to the 19th. She will succeed Martin Chungong, whose term ends on June 30, 2026. Anda Filip has been a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union since 2003. She previously served as a diplomat at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as a spokesperson for the Ministry, as a chargé d’affaires at the Romanian Embassy in the United States, and as a representative at the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations. The Inter-Parliamentary Union was founded in 1889, is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and is a long-established, large-scale, and highly influential international parliamentary organization.
