China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong: Middle East history repeatedly tells the world that force is not the answer to solving problems—political resolution is the only way forward.
On the 2nd local time, the United Nations Security Council held an open meeting on “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Arab League” at the New York headquarters. Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, emphasized at the meeting that the Middle East issue should adhere to a political solution, support Arab countries to play a greater role, and promote the situation to cool down as soon as possible. Fu Cong stated that history repeatedly shows the world that force is not the way to solve problems; political resolution is the only way out. Arab countries have unique advantages in dealing with Middle East issues, including regional, historical, and religious factors, and possess the wisdom of peace inherited from ancient civilizations. The international community should support the Arab League and Arab countries in actively preventing conflicts and mediating negotiations. Relevant UN agencies, Secretary-General’s special envoys, and special representatives should strengthen communication and coordination with Arab countries to form a joint effort. The Security Council should pay attention to the opinions of the Arab League and support regional approaches to resolve regional issues. (CCTV News)
