The Turkish parliament approved a bill on the 22nd, banning social media use for individuals under 15 years old.
The bill is expected to be signed by the president and will take effect six months after being published in the official gazette.
According to reports from Turkish media such as Anadolu Agency and NTV, the bill stipulates that individuals under 15 will be unable to register social media accounts, and major digital platforms must implement age verification control systems and strengthen content regulation.
Additionally, parents will have the authority to manage account settings, monitor in-app purchases, and restrict their children’s screen time.
The bill was proposed by Turkey’s ruling party, and President Erdogan is expected to approve it.
