A Korean finance officer was sentenced to 3 years in prison for embezzling 570 million won of public funds to invest in cryptocurrency assets.

Mars Finance news: According to South Korean media outlet Newsis, a South Korean company finance staff member in his 20s was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment by the Busan District Court for misappropriating public funds to make cryptocurrency investments. The court found that between 2021 and 2025, he transferred company funds into his personal account about 680 times, totaling about 570 million Korean won, and used the related funds for cryptocurrency trading, overseas travel, and living expenses. He also forged the company’s deposit trust balance certificates to conceal the crime.
