South Korean Finance Employee Sentenced to 3 Years for Embezzling 570 Million Won for Cryptocurrency Investment

On April 23, it was reported that a finance employee in their twenties was sentenced to three years in prison by the Busan District Court for embezzling company funds to invest in cryptocurrency. The court found that between 2021 and 2025, the individual transferred company funds to personal accounts approximately 680 times, embezzling a total of about 570 million won, which was used for cryptocurrency trading, overseas travel, and living expenses. The employee also forged company deposit trust balance certificates to cover up the crime.
