Reporters learned from the Shanghai news briefing held on April 21 that since 2020, Shanghai’s high-value invention patents per 10,000 people have grown from 29.6 to 65; the number of PCT international patent applications has increased from 3,558 to 7,446; the number of effective registered trademarks has risen from 1.7374 million to 2.93 million; and the annual registration of copyrights for works has increased from 318.9k to 460k. Meanwhile, the city’s patent licensing and transfer transactions have grown from 32,000 to 65,000, and the annual registered amount for patent-and-trademark pledge financing has increased from 38.4 billion yuan to 402 billion yuan. The total number of intellectual property talents has reached 60,000. In the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) “Global Innovation Index Report,” the “Top 100 Innovation Clusters in the World” ranking shows that the “Shanghai—Suzhou” cluster ranks among the top.
