#沃什听证会引发争议
Today marks my 669th day of posting updates; each one is prepared with care, not just perfunctorily. If you think I am a serious person, you can walk with me, and I hope the daily content can help you. The world is vast, and I am small. Follow me so you don’t have trouble finding me.
Today, let's talk about a highly controversial U.S. hearing—the Senate confirmation hearing for Federal Reserve Chair nominee Kevin Woor. This procedural meeting, which should have focused on monetary policy, turned into a heated political confrontation.
The core of the controversy lies in whether Woor can truly uphold the independence of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy. Although he repeatedly emphasized during the hearing that he would never become a “puppet” of the White House, he avoided every opportunity to distance himself from Trump when pressed by Democratic senators. Senior Senator Elizabeth Warren directly labeled him as “extremely unfit,” believing Trump is trying to use “his people” to control the Fed.
Meanwhile, partisan battles are even more chaotic. Republican Senator Thillis explicitly stated that he would not support Woor’s nomination until the criminal investigation into current Chair Powell is concluded. Since Republicans hold only a slim majority in the committee, this opposition could stall the nomination process. The market generally fears that the Fed’s independence is facing an unprecedented challenge; if the central bank becomes a tool for political interference, the stability of the global financial system will be severely undermined.
