According to South Korean media Newsis, a company finance employee in their 20s was sentenced to 3 years in prison by the Busan District Court for embezzling public funds to invest in cryptocurrencies. The court found that between 2021 and 2025, the defendant transferred company funds into personal accounts about 680 times, embezzling approximately 5.7 hundred million Korean won (i.e., about 570 million Korean won), and used the related funds for cryptocurrency trading, overseas travel, and living expenses. The defendant also forged proofs of the company’s deposit trust balance to cover up the crime.
