📰 [X Releases Two Updates: XChat Now Supports Sharing Group Chat Links, Will Officially Discontinue X Community Feature]
BlockBeats News, April 23 — X product head and Solana advisor Nikita Bier posted an announcement regarding two product changes for community organization on X, including:
• XChat now supports joinable group chat links. Users can create a public link to share directly on their timeline. Each group chat supports 350 members (and the number is still increasing).
• Due to declining usage, the X platform will officially discontinue X Communities on May 6.
Elon Musk, this guy, keeps messing with X every day, cutting community features as if it’s a game. Having a product overseen by a $SOL advisor crossing over into community functions is quite something. Creating a group chat link with only 350 people max—what’s that for? Web3 communities often have tens of thousands of members; this scale is way too small. I think this is more like an internal test cleanup; the real social finance show probably still depends on native on-chain applications. Traditional platforms, patching and fixing, will ultimately struggle to gain traction.
